Michael Clifford's Ride for Mental Health
Mental Health is very important to me. Being a bipolar man there are many challenges I have had to face in order to remain healthy. I have had 5 manic episodes, each taking months to fully recover from. I use to categorize my bipolar as being mild, but this is not the case. Bipolar is a severe mental illness and should be treated as such. It is for this reason I am riding my bike for the month of July to raise funds and awareness for mental health. Mental health is something we all have to deal with, and I feel anyone can relate in one way or another.
My ride is for a duration of 31 days in the month of July, where I try to cycle every day. (whether it be 1 km or 100+). On July 31st I will be riding at least 100km. I will be posting updates on all social media and my website with dollars raised and fitness tracking. My website is .
This is what my ride consists of:
- Train every day, (weights, biking walking etc.)
- Ride at least 70km every week for 4 plus weeks.
- Please check daily as this is where the lengthy posts will be put up in blog format.
My goal is $1000, but ideally, I would like to raise $2000 or more. Let's do this as mental health affects everyone and that's a fact. ESPECIALLY during Covid. Let's all do our part!
I am working in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association - Calgary Region (CMHA Calgary).
