We have raised $2330.00 of our target $5500!

100,000 steps for Mental Health

We would like people to know our story as to why we are doing this challenge and why to support Mental Health. We all live and enjoy having active lives which allows us to take part in these fundraisers for a good cause. Originally, we had decided to do this as a fun challenge one summer thinking it would be a good physical test for us. We were obviously shocked at the difficulty and with some encouragement from our friends and family, we decided to fundraise for the event the following year. We wanted to choose a good cause to fundraise for and none was more obvious than Mental Health given the recent events with the pandemic and other hardships that continue to plague people's lives. We thus, previously fundraised for the Wood Buffalo region as it had been one of the hardest-hit areas in terms of mental health cases with the 2016 wildfires, oil prices, 2022 floods, and the Covid-19 pandemic.

We want to help spread awareness and raise funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association - Calgary Region as the sheer volume of cases is much higher. We have an opportunity to help more individuals get the resources they need to overcome whatever they are going through. We hope that being in Calgary, more individuals become aware of our initiative and in doing so, help us beat our previous goal. People can get involved by following our Facebook page “100,000 steps for Mental Health” where we will be posting our route, details of the event, and where to donate. People may also wish to participate to show their appreciation by walking with us!

Here is our planned route:

We plan to start around 2:30 am at 1188 3 St SE, Calgary AB T2G 0Y5. We will follow the route as listed here northwest along the Bow Valley River and then turn around returning to the same address for a break. We will then walk central - south-west along the Bow Valley River and end up at Glenmore Athletic Park in the early afternoon where we will finish our fundraiser. We will likely complete the challenge around 9-10pm depending on how fast we are.
