About CMHA Calgary

It is Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region’s (CMHA Calgary) mission to be a leader in reducing the impact of mental illness and addiction in community. For more than 60 years, we have provided a person and family centered integrated service model focused on early intervention and prevention of a mental health or substance use concern that delivers a measurable increase in community resiliency. We believe that we have an obligation and duty to provide a platform for advocacy and leadership in the community. We have a proven ability to engage, help organize, empower and support the community in building the capacity to understand and support those living with mental health and substance use challenges.

About Community Event Support

CMHA Calgary is frequently invited to numerous community events and fundraisers throughout the year at workplaces, community centres, schools and other public places. Attending these events are a great way for CMHA Calgary to connect with people and let them know what kind of services are available through our organization.

We are looking for volunteers to support CMHA Calgary at various community events. This position involves having some knowledge about CMHA Calgary programs and how to refer people who have questions to the appropriate resources at CMHA Calgary. This position does not require expert knowledge about mental health or involve counselling people. You will be trained on how to speak about CMHA Calgary programs. Volunteers will not be sent to an event on their own, and will always be accompanied by a CMHA Calgary staff member. Volunteers may be required to pick-up and drop-off the required material for the event.

Time Commitment:

Tradeshows and community events operate on a varying schedule throughout the week, time of day and location. CMHA Calgary is not able to predict when events will occur, therefore, volunteers will be contacted by the Development and Communications Team when upcoming shifts become available. Shift lengths can vary between 2-8 hours.
